素人起步，成為國際期刊 editor。

「這次昭慶醫師能獲邀進入 JNS: Spine 的 editorial board，成為 editor，是非常高的榮譽。在神經外科界的眼中，AANS 是全世界最大的學會，JNS 系列期刊則是其學術殿堂，成為 JNS 系列期刊的 editor，便是登上學術頂峰般的榮耀了。」

研究醫師期間，吳昭慶醫師為了能順利升任主治醫師，開始學做研究，開始寫出自己的第一篇論文。和你我一樣，從毫無頭緒且屢戰屢敗的困境開始，逐漸有了固定的學術產出。

接著幾年，努力的在臨床研究、健保資料庫、手術技術、動物實驗與基礎研究各領域，多方嘗試，主題圍繞著神經外科的各種待解議題。後來，其頸椎手術技術與相關研究成績受到國際學會注目，在 PubMed 上累積了約 100 篇學術發表後，升任副教授，並同時獲得神經外科領域頂尖期刊 Journal of Neurosurgery 邀請，出任 Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine 之編輯委員。之後並繼續通過升等，為國立陽明大學教授。
